Resources for Professional Practice

  EXPERT KNOWLEDGE

The H Club has received commissions and have had articles published on health and wellbeing topics for Woman’s Health, The Woman, Salon Magazine, International Therapist, Knutsford Guardian and The Professional.

Gill continues to write editorial for The H Club for publication to promote awareness of complementary and holistic wellbeing practices and techniques in relation to health care choices and development.

Indeed, during 2003, The H Club was commissioned by the Federation of Holistic Therapists to author and produce its press releases.

Gill has guest lectured for The H Club at Bradford University School of Health Studies, on complementary health and dementia care.  Her lecture topics were recorded and used on the post graduate distance learning video for Dementia Care.

Member practitioners have the opportunity to access our knowledge of therapies and conditions, how to treat pregnant clients, etc etc by e-mail, telephone or face to face.

  PROMOTION OF PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE

The H Club is actively involved in the promotion of professional practice in the field of complementary health and well-being.  Our web site is under development and will include advertising of members services by location.

Elected General Secretary during 2003-2004 of the General Council for Massage Therapies, our founder has continued to urge practitioners to welcome professionalisation of our services.

The H Club keeps member practitioners in touch with the evolving trends and conditions relating to professional practice in our field.  We actively update members on areas such as: pricing, regulation, Continued Professional Development, insurance and National Occupational standards.

  MENTORING NETWORK

The H Club provides a mentoring network for independent wellbeing practitioners including giving free access to advice on business development, service/therapy delivery, quality standards, marketing and other related matters.

Our sharing of experience and skills includes comment on the best and worst courses, cost effectiveness of the numerous advertising offers members receive, how to avoid scam offers and much, much more.  Our members can access vastly reduced, certificated training in topics ranging from First Aid to Reiki.

  ACCREDITATION AND QUALITY

The H Club fully supports accreditation and quality improvement within the complementary health, fitness, coaching and lifestyle professions.

Indeed, as a representative for the Professional Association of Clinical Therapists, our founder member worked closely to assist GCMT in its quest to become the Lead Body in Voluntary Regulation of Body Work Therapies including Massage with the aim of raising standards and appropriately accrediting courses for professional practice.

Every Member Practitioner is professionally qualified in their chosen areas and carries full professional indemnity insurance.

The H Club is actively involved in promoting knowledge and delivering wellbeing sessions in the community and assisting individuals to make an informed choice with regard to Integrated Healthcare and selection of professionally accredited and trained practitioners.

In 2004, our founder was solely responsible for developing four health and wellbeing courses accredited by the Open College Network.  Student and Social Memberships are available to those who do not hold any appropriate professional qualifications but are interested in our activities.

Further, The H Club offers its members vastly reduced rate access to training courses from qualified teachers.  If they wish to participate, members can access courses to help develop business skills and to maintain professional accreditation, ie First Aid Certification, Reiki Certification and training in a whole range of other areas, including Business development, Anatomy & Physiology and Diet and Nutrition.

  BEST PRACTICE

In 2005, The H Club’s work was recognised after numerous nominations for the Positive Action Awards North West.

Organised by Warrington Disability Partnership, organisers of Disability Awareness Day (Europe’s largest voluntary led Independent Living Exhibition) supported by the Northwest Regional Development Agency, the awards recognise exemplary practice in the field of employment, service delivery and individual merit.
